Battle of Galactica

I wanted to share this wonderful piece of music by Mr. Jonathan Coulton. This song, “The Battle of Galactica” appears on John Hodgman’s audiobook “More Information Than You Require.”

I started watching through Battlestar Galactica again, starting at the miniseries. I spend a lot of time singing this song while watching the show.

Sour’s Hibi no Neiro Webcam Music Video

I saw this video today on Boing Boing and it is really amazing. It was cut entirely with webcam footage. At first I thought it was going to just be a bunch of random people just singing or dancing, but the level of interaction is so incredibly impressive. I love it.

Pomplamoose VideoSongs

Ze Frank posted a link to this ‘VideoSong’ on Twitter. The band is called Pomplamoose (‘grapefruit’ in French) and they are brilliant. The concept of a ‘VideoSong’ is pretty interesting too, there are two rules: (1) What you see is what you hear (no lip-syncing for instruments or voice) and (2) If you hear it, at some point you see it (no hidden sounds).

I picked up the album on iTunes but they offer some of their songs for free.

They are my official musical recommendation today, September 26, 2009.

Today Katy Perry’s version of “Hot N Cold” was playing at work and it made me think back to this amazing video. The band is Los Colorados and they are Ukrainian.

Recent Acquisitions: A Child’s Introduction to French

On the eve of my 25th birthday, I offer a gift to all of you. A song from the 1960 record “A Child’s Introduction to French.” This was acquisitioned on a trip to a record-hunting trip to a local thrift store. I couldn’t resist the “twenty activity songs, games and conversations that will teach your child and entertain everyone in the family.” You can play it below or just download it here.

With a little digging I found that Golden Records released a series of “A Children’s Introduction to…” records. Spanish, Jazz, the Orchestra, Gilbert and Sullivan, Beethoven and Mozart, etc. This record uses the new “language by ear” method and is approved by leading language teachers.
