Last year I made a bunch of origami cranes from the wedding into ornaments.

And here is our rockin’ Star Trek communicator ornament, courtesy of Jerry LaBuy.

When Josh and I got married, I took on the task of folding 1,000 origami cranes for the wedding. Afterwards, I had an enormous amount of paper cranes left, and I really wanted to put them to use, rather than leave them sitting in a box somewhere.

Josh came up with the brilliant suggestion of just displaying them in shadow boxes. So I picked some up at Hobby Lobby along with straight pins and set to work.

I flattened the cranes and then layered them in the shadow box, securing them with a straight pin. I made three for our apartment, and also made one for my mom and for Josh’s mom.

Now, this didn’t come close to using all of the cranes, but it did make a dent. I have a plan for another origami crane project in the future, but we’ll see what happens.
